During my initial call to setup an appointment for door repair (broken spring), I requested an estimate. I was told that the technician would have to inspect the door first. When the technician "Joey" arrived I again requested an estimate. At this time I was told $200 for the labor but, he could not give me the cost of a replacement spring until he took the old one off and measured. I believe this was a misleading statement as the guage he used to measure the spring wire could have been used before removing it. In any event, I agreed to proceed. Once the spring was removed and the entire rollup mechanism disassembled. Joey then asked if wanted to use an "American" or "China" spring. At that time he indicated the price for an American spring would be $1,350-$1,400 and that a China spring would be $650-$700. I feel that his tactic not reveal the spring prices until taking my door apart and making a mess was to price gouge. I proceeded just to get the door back in order and him off my property. Both door springs were replaced and the door is operational. I just hope his work and materials hold up. Any help to resolve this matter would be much appreciated.
