Campaign Narrative

Based on 6 community reports, the phone number 855-442-2935 is being used to operate a fake technical support scam targeting computer users. The scammers cold-call victims claiming their computers are infected or running slowly, then attempt to charge between $299 and $499 for unnecessary "repair" services. Multiple reports describe the operation as having the characteristics of a typical call center scam, with callers using fake American names and providing inconsistent information about their Microsoft affiliation - sometimes claiming no connection to Microsoft, other times falsely claiming to be affiliated with the company.

The scammers have demonstrated aggressive and threatening behavior when confronted. In one incident, when a caller challenged them using a number-switching app, a scammer made violent threats including claims about knowing the caller's location and sending armed individuals to their home. This escalation to threats of physical violence appears to occur when the scammers realize they are being investigated or pranked by scam-baiters.

If you receive a call from this number or similar unsolicited technical support offers, hang up immediately. Legitimate tech companies like Microsoft do not make unsolicited calls about computer problems. Never provide remote access to your computer or payment information to unsolicited callers. If you believe you have a computer issue, contact a local technician directly or call the official support number for your device manufacturer.
