I am reporting an employment scam targeting CalJOBS users. On 1/8/2026, I received an email from Brenton Hall claiming to represent: Alpha Mechanical Services, Inc. Email: [email protected] Website: alphamechanicalservicesinc.com Address: 2823 Palma Cir, Corona, CA 92881 The sender said they got my info from CalJOBS. Having just registered for CalJobs, seemed legit. I followed up and was asked if I was interested which I was, so they sent over a formal job description. The job looked pretty legit (Data Entry Specialist $30/hr, remote, benefits, flex-time). Hence, we scheduling an online interview via Microsoft Teams. This is where things got strange. On the morning of the interview Brenton did not show up on camera, but instead messaged me questions I had to respond to on the fly. All seemed to go well until I immediately received an email thereafter with a typical Application to fill out and instructions to contact my supervisor which was also Brenton Hall. This led me to do a bit of digging where I found out this appears to be an imposter employer scam: The contractor license shown on BuildZoom belongs to a different company in Roseville. The website's domain is newly registered and has no business history. The listed address is a residential condo, not a commercial HVAC business. Google search for the company name comes up with a similar business in the area: https://alphamechanical.com/ BBB ScamTracker has multiple recent employment-scam reports tied to this same company name and website. The person who contacted me does not match the business owner listed in the Secretary of State record. I did not provide any sensitive information beyond what is already visible on CalJOBS.
