Could we improve this subreddit? If you look at the recent posts and their comments, /r/socialengineering is slowly turning into a merger of /r/seduction and /r/socialskills. Am I wrong to think we should aim for higher quality content? Instead of vague responses ("just be more charismatic!"), shouldn't we look for better, more thoroughly researched answers? Few responses seem to offer applicable advice nowadays, and I sort of miss the old /r/socialengineering. I think we should learn from /r/behavioraleconomics or /r/GameTheory and strive for better-researched discussion. What do you think? **UPDATE:** Glad this thread caught on! Secretly, I was trying a few tricks on you guys, and they seemingly worked. 1. Instead of writing "This subreddit needs improvement", I went with a question to avoid putting you on the defensive. 2. I also mentioned "the old times", because no matter if they exist or not, people seem to remember them. I frankly think it used to be better, but it's a well-known bias. 3. Finally, I compared us. I admittedly had very little material here, especially since it works better on individuals or strong-knit groups. I really had a message to pass, but I'm sure my unaltered thoughts would have been shot down instantly. Same message, different methods.
