Australian car sale scam (gumtree.com.au) After posting an Ad to sell a car, I was contacted by an interested buyer (lets call him 'Chris') saying he would like to purchase the car for his son in the Northern Territory. He said that he works as an Operations Manager and was currently on an oil rig too busy to talk on the phone. He planned to organize a courier to pickup the car, who would need to be paid in advance. He then send a fraudulent email that was crafted to look like a paypal receipt. The header was modified to seem like the sender was 'service@paypal.com.au' while it was actually some obscure webmail service. He then asked for $2000 of the imaginary payment to be sent via MoneyGram. Edit: Fixed to follow the rules.
