I, ******* *******, was recently scammed by a fraudulent operation using the domain theairreservations.com after my legitimate airline flight was canceled. Desperate to resolve the issue and secure a refund or rebooking, I searched online for the airline’s customer service and called a number that appeared in the results, which turned out to be a fake call center impersonating the airline. The representative requested my booking confirmation number and last name, quickly accessed my real itinerary details to build trust, then claimed that to process the cancellation and issue any refund, I needed to pay an additional “cancellation fee,” “processing charge,” or similar upfront amount (which they assured would be refunded along with my original ticket value). Under pressure from time-sensitive travel plans, I authorized the charge to my credit card. I received a confirmation email from an address like [email protected] (or similar variants such as [email protected] ) containing what appeared to be legitimate itinerary updates, but no actual changes, refunds, or services were provided by the real airline. When I contacted the legitimate airline directly through their official website, they confirmed no record of this extra charge, no interaction with “theairreservations.com,” and that my booking remained unchanged or was potentially tampered with. Attempts to reach the scammers afterward failed as the phone numbers and emails became unresponsive. This matches numerous other reports on BBB Scam Tracker involving airline impersonation scams using this domain, fake toll-free numbers (e.g., variations [BBB Scam Type: Travel/Vacation/Timeshare] [Business: Theairreservations.com] [Location: CA, USA- 90210]
