I encountered a scammer while trying to find a place to rent ***Disclaimer***: I have read the posting rules, and do not consider this doxxing since this person is clearly fictitious and does not use a real last names; plus the fact he forges documentation. I was looking for a place to rent in Ottawa and this person emailed me out of the blue saying he had just the place for me (I don't even recall replying to his ad). This place was absolutely amazing - at the time I didn't even process the idea that it was 'too good to be true'. It was fully loaded with nice furniture, big flatscreen TV, all the amenities of a swanky apartment (pool, gym), laundry, all utilities, cable, and internet included... you name it. I continued my conversation with him and found out he was out of the country, so we had to do the deal via AirBNB. He was asking for first and last month's rent as a deposit. He was extremely thorough, but at times his grammar was a bit sketchy which was odd. He also specifically stated the rent he was asking for was in Canadian dollars - a somewhat strange thing for someone native of Canada to say. When he brought up AirBNB he kept assuring that it was safe and legitimate, even when I never questioned it. Things were moving along fine, and then he sent me a picture of his passport to solidify his legitimacy (even though I never questioned that either...). I thought this was very strange... so I decided to image search his apartment photos - and lo and behold, I found the exact same images were from a Montreal apartment, a place in Calgary, and another place in Edmonton... interesting. I am actually amazed by Google's ability to search with images. If it had not been for this unique tool, I would've gotten suckered. I then image searched his passport, and was [**directed to these articles in another language.**](https://www.google.com/search?tbs=sbi:AMhZZishqEbT6zNK0QRq9HrNxMO68f27JYfjao_1asIe_1jGTSPNxr-6xl0Kjasv82pIJ1jwJoV7To5TCD6IW2yhbSRTjMAKjK5yk2Ml
