I was looking for an online employment opportunity with Appen (www.appen.com), a legitiment company that a relative works for, and the search results led me to a website that looked a lot like Appen's website - even used their Appen's location address as their own - but I didn't know until it was too late that the offender's web address is www.appenusa.com. I went through the process of applying for a job and they "hired" me. They got me to send pictures of my social security card and drivers license. They got all of the information that a real employer would have received from a job application process. They snookered me into paying for ($45) and taking a certification test for something that I am very over-qualified for and the "test" was such a fake that it was almost offensive. When the "start date" came and went and there was no contact (it's work at home), I started searching the Internet and realized that other people have been snookered by this. I realized that they were not the company I intended to contact in the first place but they, in fact, tried to pass themselves off as that company. Their web site looks very professional, it looks very good, but I know now that it is very fraudulant. I have no idea where they really are - they're passing themselves off as "Appen" using their addresses (Australia and Washington State).
