Anyone using a monitoring/communication device in case their loved one has a fall or any sort of emergency that leaves them unable to ask for help? (crosspost from r/agingparents) I've only seen one other post on here that came close, and it ended with one response. I'm blessed to have a mother who is super fit and amazingly tech-savvy for 93, but her hearing is really bad, and she often gets "locked out" of her smartphone (quotes because that's not the issue, but sometimes can't use her phone regardless). We have decided that a wearable device with a panic button is what we need for that unlikely but really dire scenario. Here are some examples of what I'm looking for, I'm wondering if anyone has had any experience with them or similar/recommendations/criticisms (there are many others, but these are the only 2 that mention a price): https://www.medicalguardian.com https://www.bayalarmmedical.com I would also appreciate suggestions of any other subreddits or discussion boards. edit- thanks for the responses. I just want to clarify: my mom is 100% on board with all devices, cameras, monitoring, etc. It is a forgone conclusion that we will get one of these devices. My question was more to do with trying to choose a specific company/service. I have noticed that a lot of them will NOT come right out and tell you prices, and in fact require you to contact a local dealer. I find this annoying and is usually a precursor to aggressive sales tactics....so this is why I wanted to hear recommendations. At any rate, by now I've found quite a few with reasonable rates, and will be making a choice soon. Thanks for the suggestions, still happy to hear feedback even after we've signed on with someone.
