How do I write a simple contract between two parties, where one is willing to do house renovations for a fee? *I originally posted this in the wrong subreddit and was lead here and to look into local lawyers. while I look up local lawyers, I was hoping to post this here for more info and other thoughts on the matter. Fairly simple question, while looking for someone to paint the house and fix some damages from age we found a someone who's willing to do it at a reasonable price. The thing is though, they just want the money upfront; we pay them, they do the repairs, they don't need any documents or anything considering that it's a fairly simple process (just repainting the house, mostly, and if there is any wall damages, it will be fixed). The group is willing to do what's needed to be done, all we have though is just names and contact information. I just need to write up a simple document in the event that something doesn't go to plan, such as them taking our money and disappearing. At first I thought it would be as simple as "said party agreed to do so and so for this amount of dollars. Sign here ______." but after writing it up, it just seems off. I found [this](http://www.ehow.com/how_2191423_write-contract.html) and it seems to be what I need, but does a contract need to have any special formatting, heading, or anything at all to be considered legitimate in court? Any help is greatly appreciated and it doesn't have to be fancy, I'm guessing no more than one page. Thank you for the help and I'm sorry if this is the wrong subreddit.
