Tap-light > clap-light, for us In case this helps... My 87-year old mother needs to sleep in complete darkness, but has to get up to use the bathroom in the middle of the night. I bought a clap-light for her. We've all seen the commercials -- ["Clap on! Clap off!"](https://www.amazon.com/Clapper-Activated-Detection-Appliances-Technology/dp/B0000CGKLR). But my mother couldn't clap right, believe it or not. She's a bit frail, and showing some cognitive decline. She couldn't clap fast enough. I'm sure if she had started using it years ago she would still be able to now... In any case, we instead got a [tap light](https://www.homedepot.com/p/GE-White-Battery-Operated-Closet-Tap-Light-54807/203794674) that we could easily turn on after she went to bed. What she did instead was pick it up and keep it next to her bed -- it's simple enough that she can smack it/squeeze it/bop it and turn it on, and carry it with her. Good luck, all...
