Received a collections notice from “Amcol Systems” on behalf of St. John Macomb-Oakland Hospital. Letter states I owe $173 from 6/25/25. So, first, I was not at that hospital or any hospital on that day or any day in June 2025. Second, I have not received any original bills from this hospital prior to this collection notice. Thirdly, I looked up the company and there is a legit Amcol Systems, however the phone number and address on the letter I received is no where on that website. So, last, I called St. John (currently Henry ford on 12/hoover) directly. I entered my supposed hospital account number provided on the notice and it was invalid in the automated system so I then spoke to Leo in the billing department who looked me up by name and DOB and said I have no bills in collections. (Straight Medicaid covered last visit from December 2024-January 2025). I am certain the letter is a scam to fish for personal information used when they verify your identity and/or to get money for a fraudulent made up bill. Received a robotic voicemail from 8662100078 that said “We have an, we have an important message from amcol systems. This is a call from a debt collector. Please call us back at 866-210-0078 during our regular office hours of 8 AM to 5 PM Eastern time Monday through Friday”. I received this call on a Saturday.
