IRS scam [active 9/15/2017] CONTACT INFORMATION: 202 241 8107 DESCRIPTION: standard IRS-threat robodialer Never occurred to me before today that there are enough other people who find these guys amusing to have a subreddit. It's a pretty typical MagicJack setup, but the dipshit on the other end is simultaneously confident and jumpy. Tell him you're following up for the gentleman who called earlier to verify that he is, in fact, in India, and not the United States. Remind him that you're only checking because if he's in the United States, he's guilty of three additional crimes (I dunno, dude, I'm just using the scum of the earth as a punching bag. Mumble something about wire services fraud.) But that's okay, though! Your probes so far indicate that he's somewhere in India. A few hours ago you thought he was in Northern India, but now you also think he could be in Mumbai. He "knows" that I'm "stalking" him. He doesn't "know" whether I'm a cop or just some deranged lunatic, but he "knows" I'm not just a troll (and he really believes me!) and at this point he's wondering whether I really *can* track him through his MJ provider. Of course, I haven't started the ball rolling on getting him yadda yadda you goin' to jail, homie, because I'm just a really, really nice guy and it's not too late for him and, come on, how would you feel if I stole all your grandma's money?
