I'm not totally sure if this is in fact a scam, but some things just don't feel right. The "company" is called Performance Technologies, and the website is https://www.performance.gr/. An address for the company listed at the very bottom of that website is Evrymedontos 4, Athens GR10435, GREECE, Registration Number:123782001000. They have a profile on LinkedIn at https://www.linkedin.com/company/performance-technologies-s-a-/about/. Here is some information about the person I've been dealing with while on Microsoft Teams: Name: Andreas Kiagias: CFO/Hiring Manager Email Address: Human Resources [email protected] Phone Number: 1 (623)-274-1706 Location: Houston, Texas Later in the day today, my wife actually called the bank that was on the front of the check I was sent. The darling she spoke determined that the check was a total fraud. Some things my wife and I are wondering are: 1. Why would a CFO (even IF he is the hiring manager) be asking interview type questions as part of the training? 2. If the company claims they will be sending me a company provided laptop for remote work, but then also send me a check to deposit in order to purchase all related necessary software to do the job? 3. There are many more questions we had, but I'm not going to give this person the satisfaction or my valuable time.
