Scammer called my manager at work claiming to be the sheriff's office and asked for me. I called that number and it used a realist prerecorded options for extension. i was told to use extention 6, which lead me to a person telling me that a customer at my work (and they knew the kind of workplace I work at) has reported me and that i need to come to the sheriff's office to pick up paperwork and info about maybe a court date or something. after talking to a few people (my manager, coworker and partner) about the situation we agree to let me get to the sheriff's office and see what is going on cause that sounded crazy and serious. this scammer asked me to call when i get to my car, continue to tell me more crazy details about, asked for some of my information (name, date of birth, phone number) and had me read out loud some "forms" about my "case" for the recorded phonecall. when they finally asked me to bring money as "bond" payment. that's when i felt it was suspicious and hung up, called my partner, and met at the sheriff's office and went in and asked them about ut and they confirmed it's a scam and gave me the number to report it which i will do first thing on monday. numbers used: call (208) 643-2119 text (423) 653-9443 [BBB Scam Type: Government Agency Imposter] [Business: Ada County Sheriff's Office Dat] [Location: ID, USA - 83642]
