"Your friend has been in an accident" scam I got a number of calls today from (508) 542-4131. Frantic sounding guy says a friend has been in an accident in NYC, and that she's being held in the projects by some bad guys who want money. Sounded like a scam so I asked him to describe my friend. He couldn't. Told him to f*ck off, and called the PD in 508 area code. Officer said this has been happening quite a bit, and that the calls originate from outside the US, relayed to the 508 number.
