A man named Bill Williams called me from 603-602-0465, claiming to be employed by Proof Serve Processing Center with the head quarters in California. They informed me that I was being served documentation regarding a court case. He gave me a reference number and phone number of the law firm that was serving me. He said he had a call with them shortly and would hold off the call for 30 min so I could call the law firm. The lawfirm was identified as Lambert and Lambert and I was given their number 833-328-6640 to call and confirm information regarding this case. Julian answered the call and informed me that they were retained to take me to court for the recovery of $6,975.31 for a breach of contract with Citi-Bank on a master card. I responded by stating I never received any such notification from either Citi-Bank or this law firm who said I have a 3 year outstanding debt on that went to collections. They then asked me if I was still employed by a company I hadn't worked for in over 10 years. He quickly said something about they should have taught me better then said they would proceed with the judgment and hung up the phone. I googled Proof Serve Processing and Lambert and Lambert and found that these names are often used for scams. As I am unaware of any ruling, have not received any mailings, never made any contracts with Citi-Bank Master Card, and I am current on all my debt according to my credit reports, and have no such blemish on my record. I was unsettled as I am very aware of scams, and I have never seen this tactic used before and it had me genuinely concerned.
