I have received several emails from this company saying that they are intellectual property lawyers. They are claiming that I should file a trademark application with CIPO to secure my exclusive rights to the company name ******* **************” Several years back my LinkedIn account was hacked and someone put in my profile that I was an owner of ****** ****. I found this out by talking to the actual owner of ****** ****. I immediately went into my Linked in profile and removed the line of type that stated I had an ownership stake in the company. The actual owner of ****** ****. was happy that I removed it and all was well. That was about 2 + years ago. I have never owned, worked for or been on title with any articles of incorporation with ****** **************. This email that they sent is saying that I need to reply in 24 hours or another party will want to acquire the trademark rights for ****** and I could face financial damages and lawsuits and legal penalties for continued use of the name. The name of the person claiming to be the intellectual property lawyer is Scott Lamb - at Essential Mark IP and the number is 778.404.1843. I have received other emails from other people claiming to be lawyers with similar threats and ignored them. This lawyer has a name and an address.
