At 5:07pm Feb. 2. 2026, a younger man called me from 360 236-7833, calling me Grandma, asking me how I was, I said fine, how are you? I said your voice doesn't sound right. I asked him which grandson he was, he said he was ******* and that he had come from the hospital after hurting his nose in a car accident. He was now at the Renton Police station. I asked him what his middle name was and he said the correct name of ********. I asked why he was calling me? He said he would tell his parents when he got home. He said he needed me to call his attorney, William Hail at 503 395-2130 to help him get out of jail instead of staying overnight. Then a police officer, Paul Davis, got on the line, told me they had ******* ********, they were going to charge him with texting while driving and causing an accident. I was to call his Attorney, William Hail and to do what he asked, to help ******* get out of jail. I asked why did he called me and he said I was his emergency contact for *******. I was to call the attorney and then ******* would call me back. Okay, I said and I hung up. I called my son, *****, on my other phone to verify. telling my son what the call was about, that was supposedly from ******** My son said "sounds like a scam and Do Not call the attorney, William Hail." Then my son ***** said ******* had his information used yesterday, (February 1st) and someone had run up a huge bill on his charge card. We determined this sounded related. Meanwhile, my house phone rang again (the phone that I had 1st been called on by supposed "grandson"). It was an 800 223-1527 number. I let it ring and my message machine picked up, no message was left for me. I figured it was probably the scammer call related. My son, *****, said ******* was on his way home and it was not him that had called me. ***** told me to report this as a scam call, so I called BBB to report this [BBB Scam Type: Family/Friend Emergency] [Business: Unknown] [Location: WA, USA- 99206
