I tried ordering shoes from a website and never got an order confirmation. The site asked me for a 2nd card and said it didn't go through at first but I just tried it again, then it took about 4 mins to finally say it was processed, but didn't send an order confirmation and asked for my number to link my account but said it didn't work a few times. I checked my account and didn't see the charge, and figured it didn't go through. The next day they called with my banks name on the caller ID, and the fraud depts number showing too. I was worried already about the order seeming suspicious, so I answered, and they told me I had fraud on my account. I quickly checked and saw no charges, but still locked my card. They told me they centralized the fraud and saw it was an inside job with a bank employee, and I had to close my entire account, or they claimed all my checking and savings could be taken in one click of a button. Before I realized how that was not legitimate, they asked me to verify my current checking account balance, and they knew the last 4 digits of my debit card, too. I actually told them my balance, but after they kept repeating the bank couldn't help me, and they were the fraud team, and were a different dept than going to my bank, I hung up on them. The next business day I got a letter in the mail saying my personal info such as name and social security was in a data breach and gave me a long list of numbers and websites to go to to lock my credit. This has left me really suspicious and paranoid, as they are being really aggressive.
