Dear Reader, I called the number on my Nebraska Total Care / Medicaid contact information. I called 1-844-358-2192. Then, I wait on the line for an available agent. The call is answered by a man accent. He says that I have been chosen to receive a $100 gift card. He asked me to confirm and give him my full name and mailing address, after that, he would help me with my Medicaid/ Nebraska Total Care question. He then said they will be direct depositing the gift card and wanted my bank account and routing number. Then, I was disconnecting or hung up on. I click on my call log and call right back. this time I got a different guy. I told him I was disconnected and he said he would be able to just help me. so he proceeded to ask me the same questions about banking information. He then told me he was hanging up, and he have me this number, 800-555-1212 to call and get my reference number. He did hang up, and I immediately called the 800 number still believing I was on the phone with my health insurance company. That 800 number say this number is no longer in service. I told my husband what happened when he called me after the fact. He told me that I should never never give out that info over the phone and I had been scammed. We made multiple other calls to them and Medicaid and our banking establishment as well as my local police. I wanted to let you know this, so it doesn't happen to anyone else. I had flip flopped the number 8 &5 on the phone number because I am dyslexic. I dialed the wrong number and so that's totally my fault, but I just thought I can't be the only woman or man who has Medicaid in Nebraska that could accidently make this same mistake.
