I got a call from 948-201-3266 with a message stating: "And the processing service agency is signed to locate you in regards to the delivery of legal documents for...We have had several failed attempts to contact you at the XXXX Vxxxxg Drive, the city where I live, VA Space 2XXX0. Your case has been red flagged and escalated into my department. Report to the office immediately at 877-644-2958 reference case number XXXXXX0498. Failing to communicate with the issuing firm may result in vital information about your case to be missed on proceedings to take place without your knowledge. Thank you and consider yourself notified." So, I called from my desk phone, not my cell phone, and this was an American sounding woman that stated I owe like $5,000 for a Kirby Vacuum cleaner bought back in 2010 and that they tried to find me in 2018 at the very first address I lived at here in Virginia 19 years ago. They had my current address but spelled the street I live on incorrectly. She had the last 4 digits of my social security number and like an idiot I said that was correct. She said her client was taking me to court and when I asked when the court day was, she said they needed to serve me my legal papers first and that they had someone that could serve them to me here at work or at home in the next hour. She said that she would be my contact person (Nancy Lenox) and that my wages were going to be garnished 35% at my job and she knew where I worked and what building I was in. Now I work for a university/medical school and the university is my parent companyl - they didn't mention my parent employer. My guess is they got my location off my work phone. This is very concerning to me because a few years ago someone did call and harass me about a Kirby Vacuum cleaner and he yelled, "Jesus, Dxxxxe, you know you owe this money, pay your bills!". Call came claiming that there was Civil Lawsuit that was being filed against me. ( I am not aware of any reasons for a civil lawsuit), caller had my name, number, husbands name, and his phone number, my legal home address, as well as the last 4 of my SSN. Insisting I call a number 1 877644-2958 case number 2026163-079 I contacted my local Better Business Bureau, as I could not find anything on our local Taylor County Website, that would show any kind of lawsuit of any kind against me, as I have not been notified of anything prior to the phone call. They had also contacted my husband and left him the same information. That is why I reached out the Better Business Bureau, and they assured me this was a scam.
