I received an email from PayPal indicating that there was a penny credit. Since I have a PayPal account, I logged in. There was a phone number listed on the home page to call if there were questions on the account. I called the number - 878-251-3137 to question this penny credit. The person on the phone indicated that it was a scam company from the Phillipines trying to see if they could use my account. He told me he couldn’t access my account personally, but had me type in some info so he could look at it. Apparently he was then able to see my bank info. He then wanted me to set up a fake account to move my bank balance into so he could correct my account. He texted me his photo ID (John Smith, Fraud Analysis) and badge number (789-456123) since I balked at that. He then told me he would get his supervisor to talk to me so I could understand better. I closed out all the links on my computer and he got upset telling me the hackers were already in my bank account and I needed to set up the fake bank account asap. I told him I was not going to set up a fake account. He told me he would get his supervisor to go over all the steps, telling me I would receive confirmation that he was legit via over night mail. He also said he would send information from the Better Business Bureau showing it was legit. I hung up. He called me several times after that leaving messages. I called my bank to make sure he actually did not take any money. Since the link was not complete, I was thankfully safe. I put a hard hold on my account for several days and now have a general hold just to be safe. I also took my computer in to have any viruses swept. I was told that PayPal is no longer a company that can be trusted, along with ****** virus protection and ********* ****. I am going to delete my PayPal account. I am not sure where this person was calling from exactly, so I checked Phillipines on the information pag [BBB Scam Type: Phishing] [Business: Paypal Impostor] [Location: MO, USA- 641
