I received an unsolicited text message on Jan. 5, 2026, from an (888) 765-3939 number saying: "Bookthinkers is hiring a Proofreader and your resume stood out to us. For the full job description and details on how to proceed, please email [email protected] ." That was followed 11 minutes later by a second text saying: "Please send to [email protected] for a quick reply." I went to the Bookthinkers.com website to verify and this notice is posted at the top of the Home page: "BookThinkers only operates under BookThinkers.com. We do not own or operate bookthinkers.us, and any emails, links, or communications from that domain are not affiliated with us." I reached out to BookThinkers via the website's Contact form and received an email from one of the company founders saying: "This is a scam. Please report wherever you can." Received a text (two, actually--one right after the other): Hi, I saw you recently applied for a freelance proofreading role on LinkedIn. We're hiring for a similar position and would like to invite to a quick chat. We conduct interviews via Microsoft Teams, so search for +12533407314 o Microsoft Teams chat and send a message.
