I am a homeowner living in Lewis Center. I had a spring break on my garage door last Sunday. I Googled “Garage Door Repair” and the top result was this company website called Speedy Garage Door: https://speedy-garagedoor.com/oh/columbus-oh/#Form I called them for a service call. Two men showed up in a black Jeep in a few hours. They looked at my garage door and recommended a repair of the springs. They quoted (verbally) $700 for the repair. I asked if they would do it for $600. They agreed to do it for $590 since I was a new customer. I said okay, install the springs. During the install he comes to me and says the pulley wheels need replaced. He said the cost of the two pulley wheels was $75 each. I said okay, replace them. After the work was done, one of the men proceeded to write up a handwritten invoice for over $1,400. They said that the springs were $590 EACH not for both. I protested and the guy called his manager and tried to get me to accept 50% of the second spring. I told them to remove the springs. Then they agreed to only charge me the original quoted $590 for both springs. My final bill was $832.50. They charged me $55.50 for tax and another $37.00 for a credit card fee. By the way, they are not a registered business in Ohio, (I checked) and therefore they are fraudulently collecting sales tax that they are not paying to the State of Ohio. These two guys are literally scamming hundreds if not thousands in this area. They are very arrogant and clearly think they are above the law. They fraudulently claim to be bonded and insured and offer a phony 5-year warranty.
