A customer called our garage door business and the call was intercepted. She was then scheduled for a service call and confirmed that she was speaking with someone from our company (she was not). I received a voicemail that came through the next day, the customer stated her name and then the call went silent, I assume this is when they intercepted the call. I called customer back and she stated that someone from our company was there, to which I said, that is not us. She called back to apologize for the confusion, she thought she was dealing with us. I asked if her invoice had a company name, it did not. I asked if there was and address or contact number, no address but she read me the number and I googled it only to find a similar situation had happened in OH. In addition to our calls being intercepted and affecting our business, this customer paid $2200 for something that should have costed her $745. Was looking for a garage door opener called what a local company a person answered it was a foreign speaking person which I thought was odd so I hung up dialed the number again so I figured it was an answering service set up appointment for the tech to come he arrived 2-11-2026. Checked old garage opener said we needed a new one which made sense. Just so happened to have a new one in his car.Probably should have been my first clue he did install a new garage door opener and made sure it worked, while he was finishing up received s call from the company from the company I thought I left a message for through the answering service told her what was happening and was informed it was not one of there people. After talking with owner and googling a few things the phone number from the supposed answering service came up as scam.Yes I received new garage open er st very inflated price. I googled a garage door company to come and fix the garage door that would go all the way up. Guy came in unmarked car and said the springs needed replaced. He replaced two springs and left and later that same day, the garage door wouldn’t raise again. I called the service number and then the tech messaged me and said he would come back out. He came back after a few hours and said thenopemer needed replaced. He said to go to Menards and took a screenshot with my phone and purchase the opener and call another company to come install it. Said they would only charge 85. He toros the springs and left. Note, he also has the garage door opener I. His truck and took a picture with my phone of it. I have not been able to get a supervisors name or a call back since.
