Credit Card lower interest rate scam I received a call from 814-929-4521 which played a recorded message to the effect of: >"This is an important notice regarding your credit card account. There are no current issues on your account. You qualify for a lower interest rate. This promotion is almost over, so this will be considered your final notice. Press 1 to speak with a customer service representative." I knew something was off, since no company name was given. I pressed 1 to find out who was behind it. After being placed on hold for a few minutes, a fluent English speaking man with an Indian accent answered, asked who he was speaking with (I gave first name), and then asked what I was calling about.   >You called me. >>Ah yes. You received a recorded message regarding a lower interest rate on your credit card, correct? >Yes. And what credit card issuer is this for, exactly? >>Visa, Mastercard, and Discover are all covered. >So you are not actually my credit card provider, you are just pretending to be. You know this call is illegal, right?   At that point he hung up on me. When I tried to call the number back, I received a disconnected number notice.   In the future I will know to say, "I'm very interested, but I am at work right now. Is there a number I can call back to reach you?"
