My husband had a kindle stolen and called Amazon Customer Service at 1-888-280-4331 to report the incident and deregister his Amazon prime account from his stolen kindle. The next day, he was targeted in an impersonation scam by individuals called Sam Desai from (818-233-0748 and 205-277-0056) and Steve Walt from 442-207-0040 claiming to be from Amazon’s “fraud department” calling him back to flag fishy charges of $3000 taken out of his WF bank acct and gained remote access to husband’s laptop through AnyDesk so they can show husband what appeared to be a false or manipulated Wells Fargo debit charge of $3,000. Sam then claimed that he will refund the fraudulent charges of $3000. After remote access was granted, Steve showed husband a false pending credit of $30,000 in husband’s account. They then pressured husband to wire $27,000 to Tammy Waddell to “correct” the alleged refund error. The $30,000 pending credit and the $3000 charges debit later disappeared, only the $27,000 outgoing wire remained.
