I submitted a request for a chimney cleaning estimate on the White Bright Chimney Cleaning website, https://superiorchimneys.site/. I was called and texted by +1 843-410-0890, and they asked me to call them back at (844)737-1446 or (855) 655-6618 to schedule the free home estimate. When the worker “Josh” arrived, he used only his phone flashlight to look up the chimney before calling his boss to get an estimate. He wouldn’t tell me the price until after he had taken three trips out to his van, bringing more tools (shop vac and cleaning tools) into the house each time. He made a big show of calling his boss in front of me and saying loudly, “is that the best price we can offer?” He quoted me $475 for the cleaning, or $1000 to clean and fix three alleged cracks. He was insistent on being paid in cash—would not accept check or debit card, and said they would charge me an extra $400 if I wanted to pay by credit card. I told him I would keep shopping around for other estimates and he left, but the whole experience was full of red flags. I have since searched the list of licensed Virginia businesses and can’t find anything under either White Bright or Superior Chimneys. There are 84 glowing reviews on Google Maps that must be made up.
