My son who is stationed at ***** ******* ***** ******* was traveling to the beach in Mount Pleasant with a fellow service memeber. They accidental locked his keys in the truck when they stopped at the store. He googled locksmitb and called the first number that came up, 8434756288. Who told the company his situtation and where he was at, the Locksmith told him he was 10 minutes from him. When the gentleman arrived he told my son it was a $200 after hours service call and he agreed. It took the locksmith less than 5 minutes to unlock his truck. When he finished, he asked my son if he had full coverage insurance. When my son answered yes, he stated it would be $560 and that my sons insurance would reimburse him since he has full coverage. My son agreed, not know ing that our insurance does not cover roadside assistance. My son went to pay with credit card and the locksmith told him it would be an additional 5% if using a card. My son offered Zelle but the locksmith said it wouldn't go thru and suggested that he follow my son to an ATM. My son called me while driving to the ATM and told me what was going on. I told him not get cash out of the ATM and to just pay the 5% to use his card so we would have a paper trail of the event. The locksmith was not happy about not fetting cash but eventually agreed to card payment. Afterwards I contacted multiple other locksmiths in Charleston and got quotes for an afterhours lockout service. These quotes ranged from $125-$275. Every one of them told me $560 was absurd and probably a scam. .css-c8hvdp{--Grid-columns:12;-webkit-flex-direction:row;-ms-flex-direction:row;flex-direction:row;min-width:0;box-sizing:border-box;display:-webkit-box;display:-webkit-flex;display:-ms-flexbox;display:flex;-webkit-box-flex-wrap:wrap;-webkit-flex-wrap:wrap;-ms-flex-wrap:wrap;flex-wrap:wrap;gap:var(--Grid-rowSpacin [BBB Scam Type: Other] [Business: Charleston Locksmith] [Location: SC, USA- 29404]
