I was sent an info packet by blue cross complete with a customer service number (1-800-228-8554) when I called this number a person answered and said I could be sent a $100 Walmart gift card by signing up for their shopping program for 34.99 a month and a $1.95 fee upfront. I have my card information, name, address, and email because I thought I was speaking with my insurance company. When I pressed them for more information they spoke quickly and were confusing but eventually said I could cancel by calling either of these two numbers: 1-877-399-0407 or 1-877-682-1394 They said I would get an email with more info but I didn’t get an email. I tried calling the numbers to cancel. They answered as a customer service center but refused to give me a company name or any information. I gave my name and they said they don’t have an account for me yet because I just signed up. I asked to cancel and they said they would cancel for me. I asked how can you cancel if you don’t have an account for me yet? How can I confirm you cancelled? They said they can cancel based on my phone number and I’ll know I cancelled because there will be no charges. I have not been charged yet but it’s been less than an hour. I told them I think this is a scam and I want to report it and they refused to name a company, the woman literally said she can’t tell me the name of the call center she’s working at and hung up on me when I said I want to report it [BBB Scam Type: Phishing] [Business: Blue cross complete] [Location: MI, USA- 48220]
