Area Code Report
Scam Calls from Area Code 410
Dropped calls and silent hang-ups define area code 410's complaint profile more sharply than anything else. Of 1,736 total complaints logged against 679 numbers since February 2026, 488 fall into the dropped-call-or-no-message category, nearly three times the volume of the next largest bucket. That pattern points to heavy use of predictive dialers running ahead of available agents, a technique common in high-volume fraud and aggressive telemarketing operations. The single largest contributor to this pattern is 410-774-0556, which generated 13 complaints in that category alone.
Impersonation calls are the most substantively dangerous secondary thread, with 179 complaints filed against numbers claiming to be government agencies, businesses, or individuals known to the recipient. Two numbers, 410-773-9717 and 410-773-9722, together account for 27 complaints in this category and are almost certainly operated in tandem given their sequential assignment and near-identical complaint counts of 14 and 13 respectively. That pairing suggests a single operation rotating between closely numbered lines to distribute complaint load.
Debt-reduction pitches generated 103 complaints, with 410-610-1746 accounting for 24 of them, making it the most complained-about categorized number in the code. Calls framed around credit card, mortgage, or student loan relief are a reliable vehicle for harvesting financial account details, and a number reaching that complaint level in a relatively short window — the code has only been active since February 2026 — indicates a sustained, targeted campaign rather than scattered opportunistic dialing.
Energy and solar solicitations added 50 complaints, led by 410-844-3936 with 21. Maryland has seen aggressive third-party energy supplier marketing tied to deregulation, and complaints at that concentration on a single number suggest scripted high-pressure pitches rather than legitimate outreach. Medical and prescription calls contributed 69 complaints as a category, though none of the top numbers are tagged to it explicitly.
Three of the eight most-complained-about numbers, 410-965-1234 at 69 complaints, 410-474-3331 at 23, and 410-335-5305 at 18, carry no category assignment despite collectively drawing 110 complaints, making them among the more opaque actors in this code. The 69-complaint volume on 410-965-1234 alone places it at the top of the number-level rankings for the entire code. With activity confirmed as ongoing through June 2026 and complaints spread across Maryland, Florida, and New York, 410 is operating as a multi-state spoofed or reassigned surface with no sign of winding down.
