I saw an ad on Facebook for Patellar Support Knee Straps, I followed the link and purchased them for $14.99. I got a receipt and follow-up emails with shipping notifications. A few days after the initial purchase, I was charged an additional $49.99 and then $149.99. By the time I noticed this and started looking more closely at the receipts, the website no longer existed (FlexWrapCo.com is now a parked site on GoDaddy.com). Looking back, I can see some flags even on the initial receipt, like vague shipping information, an additional line item on the receipt "Lifetime Guarantee", and no actual contact information for Flexwrap other than an email that should have tipped me off. I am working with my bank to dispute the charges, and I never received the product in the mail. [BBB Scam Type: Online Purchase] [Business: Flex Wrap] [Location: Orlando, FL, USA - 32812]

I encountered an advertisement on Instagram for a product described as a “patella strap” being sold for approximately $10. When I clicked on the ad, it directed me to the company’s website (previously flexwrapco.com, now operating under a different domain, athletiqs.com). On the website, the product was clearly advertised as a one-time purchase for $10. At no point during the checkout process was there any clear or conspicuous disclosure of a subscription, membership, or additional recurring charges. There was no visible mention of a $49.99 monthly membership, a $149 charge, or any billing in multi-month increments. After completing the purchase, I was later charged additional amounts that I did not authorize, including approximately $149. These charges were not disclosed in a clear or transparent way prior to purchase. I contacted the company requesting cancellation and a refund. They responded stating that my membership was canceled and that I would receive a full refund. However, despite this confirmation, I was still charged after the cancellation date. Shortly after, the company’s original website (flexwrapco.com) was taken down and replaced with a new website (athletiqs.com), which appears to be selling the same product using the same advertising approach. The new website also does not clearly disclose the subscription or additional charges during checkout. Additionally, there is no clear customer support contact information available on the new site. Based on my experience and reviews from other consumers, this appears to be a pattern where the company advertises a low-cost product, enrolls customers into undisclosed memberships, charges large amounts, and then rebrands under a new domain to continue the same practices. I believe this is a deceptive and misleading business practice designed to trick consumers into unauthorized charges. [BBB Scam Type: Online Purchase] [Business: athletiqs] [Location: NY, USA- 12550]
