I am filing a complaint regarding what appears to be a misleading or potentially fraudulent call center posing as United Airlines. I attempted to book a flight through the official United Airlines website for me and my daughter. While on the website, I encountered incorrect information on my daughter’s account that I could not correct online. I searched the United Airlines site for a customer service number and called what I believed to be United’s number. The number I dialed was 1-800-864-8831. I later learned that the correct United Airlines number is 1-800-864-8331 which is only one digit different. During the call, I explained the issue and was told that I could book directly through them. I provided my name, my email address, my daughter’s date of birth, and the flight details I was seeking. The representative assured me the price would be the same as what I saw online. I became concerned when the representative seemed confused by some of the basic details I was providing. In addition, the email appeared to originate from a a different e-mail address rather than an official United Airlines address. When I questioned this, the representative stated they were a “third-party affiliate with United.” At that point, I ended the call because I felt uncomfortable and believed I may have reached an unauthorized or deceptive operation. Importantly, I did not provide any credit card information, Social Security number, or banking details, but did provide my name, dob, phone number and email address. I then called United Airlines directly using the correct number 1-800-864-8331 and explained what happened. The United representative stated that this type of situation has occurred before including herself which suggests this is a recurring issue. My concern is that this entity [BBB Scam Type: Travel/Vacation/Timeshare] [Business: Travocart] [Location: NJ,
