Caller called to see if person was home to deliver legal papers about a property complaint. Tried to say they mailed legal papers and were going to deliver certified to the house. Got called by 845 284 9284 and was asked if I was going to be home within the hour so certified papers could be dropped off, when I asked what about the person gave me the number 855 289 7782 said it was a law firm, called the number and a guy answered the phone but not by the name of the law firm, I had to ask what I was calling. Proceeded to say I had a delinquent credit card and that I was going to be summoned to court if I didn't pay the balance, when I told him I didn't have any way to pay that much he said he could put in for a hardship judgement for less. Scammer called to say that they were attempting to serve papers in regard to a lawsuit filed against me regarding unpaid debt. They stated that if I did not respond then a lien would be placed on my home. I was told that a process served would arrive at my home within the hour, which would’ve been 4 PM on 1/12/26. When asked who would deliver this, they stated “Maybe a constable. They’ll have their badge.” I waited, thinking that this was legitimate, but no one ever arrived.
