Secondary scam types are considerably smaller: 157 complaints involve dropped calls or no message, with 212-561-5775 (38 complaints) and 212-962-0268 (34 complaints) leading that subset. Debt-reduction pitches targeting credit cards, mortgages, and student loans generated 61 complaints, and medical and prescription solicitations added another 57.

The highest-volume individual numbers in the code carry no category assignment but generate outsized complaint counts. 212-931-0828 leads all numbers with 122 complaints, 212-270-6000 follows with 62, and 212-384-1000 has 38. Those three numbers alone account for 222 complaints — a substantial share of the code's total — without a defined scam type attached.

Reported victims are concentrated in the five New York City boroughs but extend to Florida and California, indicating the 212 prefix is being used as a spoofed or legitimate originating number to reach targets well outside the metro. With 396 of the FCC-logged contacts recorded as live-agent calls rather than robocalls, the operation relies heavily on human callers, which typically signals more adaptive, higher-conversion fraud rather than broadcast-style automation.
