I received calls from numbers like 833-370-3995 and 888-508-7913 from scammers posing as representatives of RESIDENTIAL MORTGAGE CORP. They told me there were urgent matters regarding my home loan and pressured me to provide account verification information immediately. The fraudsters specifically targeted me as a recent mortgage holder, suggesting they research and target customers of legitimate mortgage companies.
I received a secure letter in the mail with perforated edges claiming to be my lender for a recent Mortgage. It listed the correct county, closing date, loan amount, and lender name along with a Mortgage ID. The first sign it was a scam was that it used a middle name instead of first name addressing me. It read: We have been trying to reach you regarding a matter of importance as it relates to your mortgage. Please call 1-833-408-1597. I called my lender directly and they confirmed it was a scam, so I did not interact further. [BBB Scam Type: Phishing] [Business: HIGHLANDS RESIDENTIAL MORTGAGE LP Da] [Location: WA, USA - 98382]
Claimed that we were owed money. We never dealt with this company before, so we started to suspect fraud. Tried to say they deposited too much money in our account. But they seemed to edit html. [BBB Scam Type: Phishing] [Business: Paramount Residential Mortgage Date] [Location: TX, USA - 78660]
Received post card in mail regarding an 'urgent matter' concerning our new mortgage with Primary Residential Mortgage Inc. I did not call as our mortgage has already been sold to another mortgage servicing company. They did have access to our name, address, and the old mortgage loan number. I looked up the number they provided 833-382-5531, and found this information. [BBB Scam Type: Phishing] [Business: Primary Residential Mortgage Inc - Impostor] [Location: NM, USA - 87122]
We just purchased a house and consistently received TONS of notifications in the mail saying that they've "been trying to reach you regarding a matter of importance as it relates to your mortgage with Primary Residential Mortgage Inc." I initially ignored them all until we started to receive a few "FINAL NOTICES," including a letter saying that "Based on your mortgage lender's requirements for your current loan, you may be required to have a home warranty in place at all times to stay in compliance." I finally called to inquire what was going on and was treated like I had a delinquent account. I was bullied into purchasing this Home Warranty service and was told that the policy booklet and ID cards would be mailed by priority mail. I never received them. Two weeks go by and after researching, I determined this was a scam company. I called the number to cancel and the policy and they refused, repeating over and over again that I was in the 30-day review period, and that I couldnt cancel until I received and reviewed the policy booklet. I again was told a date that I would receive the policy booklet, and its been almost two weeks past that date and I still have not received. I did not authorize recurring payments, but received a welcome letter stating that I did. Again, they refuse to let me cancel this "policy" [BBB Scam Type: Phishing] [Business: Home Warranty Services] [Location: MD, USA - 21157]
