Received a scam USPS mail piece telling me to contact them about "a matter of importance as it relates to your mortgage". Discovered the contact phone number provided (1-833-408-1597) is a phishing scam. Did not call the number and destroyed the mail (picture attached). The postage stamp states: "U.S. Postage PAID, Permit #100, Claremont, CA", no return address provided on the mail piece [BBB Scam Type: Phishing] [Business: West Capital Lending Inc] [Location: CA, USA- 92677]

Received a letter in the mail about the loansuot mortgage needing more information about the mortgage we just recieved on the house we purchased. They know the closing date, amount we spent, and the county. When we called the number (1-833-408-1597) it was a robot asking yes or no health questions. Then stating that someone would call when available. So far no call was suspicious on why a morgage loan company needed health questions to be answered and googled the number and found this website. I received a security mailer similar to one used for reporting W-2 or 1099 tax information. The return address was missing but referenced "HAPO COMMUNITY CREDIT UNION" which is a legitimate credit union. The interior referenced a mortgage ID, local county, closing date, loan amount, and lender name. The message read "We have been trying to reach you regarding a matter of importance as it relates to your mortgage. Please call 1-833-408-1597." While most of the information appeared legitimate, the loan amount was not 100% accurate nor was the mortgage ID accurate based upon the actual closing documents received from the title company as part of the closing disclosures.
