Scam Calls from Area Code 706

Impersonation is the defining problem in Georgia's 706 area code. Of the 778 categorized complaints tied to named scam types, 403 fall under calls pretending to be government, businesses, or family and friends — more than the next three categories combined. That single category accounts for well over half of all labeled activity, and it runs across reported locations spanning Pendergrass, Kennesaw, Columbus, Augusta, and Jefferson, with calls also drawing complaints from receivers in New York and Colorado.

Debt-reduction pitches and medical or prescription solicitations form a secondary layer. Calls reducing debt — credit cards, mortgages, and student loans — generated 110 complaints, while medical and prescription calls produced 103. Warranty and protection-plan pitches added 32 more, with 706-890-1193 responsible for 11 of those warranty complaints alone. Together these three categories suggest organized outbound operations cycling through multiple pitch types from within or spoofing the same code.

The high-volume individual numbers are striking in their own right. 706-535-7102 leads all numbers with 24 complaints, followed closely by 706-349-4127 at 22 — the latter tied to dropped calls or dead-air contacts, a common probing tactic. 706-943-5662 drew 17 complaints, 706-383-3101 drew 16, and 706-570-9979 drew 15, with the category for each of those four numbers unclassified in the complaint data. 706-807-2087 and 706-407-5931 add 14 and 9 complaints respectively, also unclassified.

Across 706 as a whole, 678 distinct numbers have generated 1,581 total complaints since February 2026, with activity flagged as ongoing through June 2026. The code ranks 14th among the 47 Georgia area codes tracked, placing it solidly in the upper tier of in-state scam-call pressure. The concentration of impersonation complaints alongside a large block of high-complaint numbers whose categories remain unresolved points to a code where the full scope of fraud activity is likely underrepresented in current tallies.
