I went to renew my passport and the top option on Google was this passportsubmission.us. I filled out all of my information and paid they made me pay $129.00 just to fill out the DS-82 forms for me and tell me to mail them to the government myself. That's when I realized I used the wrong website. My social security number and other personal information was all submitted for this. Waiting to hear back from them to get a refund and confirmation that they deleted my info, but have not heard back. I am filing a complaint against passportsubmission.us for deceptive and misleading business practices involving passport renewal services. On [date of payment], I searched “renew passport” on Google. The first result appeared to be an official government service and directed me to the website passportsubmission.us. The site uses government-style language, visual design, and terminology that strongly implies it is part of the U.S. Department of State’s passport renewal system. I completed what I believed to be an official online passport renewal form. After entering my personal information—including name, address, phone number, and email—I was taken to a checkout page requiring payment of $129.00. The page appeared legitimate, offering Apple Pay, Google Pay, and standard credit card payment options. Immediately after I paid, I realized the service was not an official government renewal portal. Instead of renewing my passport, the company emailed me a downloadable copy of the DS-82 passport renewal form—something that is free to download directly from the U.S. Department of State website. Their email then instructed me that I still needed to pay the real $130 government fee by check to the U.S. Department of State. This means: I was charged $129 for something that is completely free. The “service” provided no value beyond sending me documents I could have downloaded at no cost. My personal information, including SSN is now in the hands of a deceptive, non-governmental third party. The website also hides disclaimers in fine print, stating it is “not affiliated with any government agency,” while the entire design and user experience clearly mislead consumers into believing otherwise. This is a misrepresentation of government services, a deceptive marketing practice, and a misleading sale of federally available forms. I wanted to renew my US passport on Nov 21st. The first website that popped up was passportsubmission.us and it looked like an official government service. I assumed it was a legitimate passport renewal website, and then it charged my card $129 to order a new passport book. After the payment went through, I never received an email from them and I realized this website is not connected to the United States Department of State and is not a real passport agency. This is a scam website that takes your personal information (Passport Number, SSN, Card Info) and makes it seem like they can renew your passport and then they will take your money. I haven't gotten any legitimate passport service at all and no new passport book has been ordered or issued for me because this is a fraud service/website. This site appears to exist only to collect sensitive personal information and charge a fee by pretending to be the government passport renewal website. I have tried contacting them multiple times for a refund since they are not a legit passport website. I've also seen other people online have been scammed by this website and I caution others to not use this scam website to renew their passport. I have also filed a fraud claim with the FTC and alerted my bank about this. Do not use this website to renew your passport- they will steal your money and personal information. I went to passportsubmission.us, thinking it was a legitimate website, but instead they charged me the same the passport would cost, collected my SSN and other details they most certainly didn't need to know, and sent me a PDF in return. just submitted my info to “https://passportsubmission.us/”- it was the first link when I googled passport renewal and I’ve been meaning to do it for a long time and my brain was finally like “do it NOW,” so I was going through fast, and didn’t think even for a second until I hit submit. I think my brain just register as gov website, like when you misread a word and look again and it’s obviously different. My debit card, SSN, address… everything got submitted. There’s no contact info to ask them to wipe the info. Just the email you get after submitting asking to reply to that email with any questions… which I did They'll just email you the completed form and then tell you to mail it yourself to the passport office along with paying the normal passport fees. All they do is take your money and send you the completed forms to send. In that way it is definitely such a ripoff. all of this can be done for free @media (min-width:768px){.css-1w6dufj{-webkit-box-flex:0;-webkit-flex-grow:0;-ms-flex-positive:0;flex-grow:0;-web [BBB Scam Type: Online Purchase] [Business: passportsubmission.us] [Location: GA, USA - 30097]

I started the process to renew my passport. I was directed to passportsubmission.us where I filled out my application online and paid $129 to download my application to mail. I found out that I was scammed when I tried calling to update my submission from 'submit by mail' to 'submit online'. I called the number from travel.state.gov, and they informedme that where I submitted my information was a scam site. passportsubmission.us claimed to renew passports. I typed in passport and this email address came up so I gave all in the information they requested, like home address, phone numbers, SSN, birthdate, parents names etc.... On the document that popped up after I sent payment said I'd need to send the picture of the person getting their passport renewed and the old passport I had a terrible feeling I'd been scammed. I checked chatgpt and yes this website came up as 100% not legite. [BBB Scam Type: Government Agency Imposter] [Business: passportsubmission.us] [Location: MN, USA - 56118]

I went online to get a new United States passport and found a site called passportsubmission.us that looked like an official government service. The page used government style language and walked me through the process. It asked for all the information you would expect on a passport application, including full legal name, home address, date and place of birth, parents names, Social Security number, and contact details. After filling everything out, the site required payment for what it described submitting for a new passport and charged my Debit card about $180.95. Only after the payment went through did I realize this site is not connected to the United States Department of State and is not a real passport agency. The confirmation did not come from a .gov email address. I have received no legitimate passport service at all. This site appears to exist only to collect sensitive personal information and charge a fee by pretending to be the government passport renewal website. @media (min-width:768px){.css-1w6dufj{-webkit- [BBB Scam Type: Counterfeit Product] [Business: US Passport Submission] [Location: OK, USA - 74010]

I am disputing the charge with my card issuer and reporting this so others know to avoid this site and use only the official travel.state.gov website for passport renewal. My husband had used the same site and received notification before I did from the state department. He called the company. After a lengthy discussion, they finally said they would “request” a refund through their accounting department. They stated if it was approved he would receive an email from them within 24-48 hours and if it was NOT approved he WOULD NOT receive and email. When we questioned that, they said, “ that’s just our policy” . When we asked shouldn’t we receive notification whether it was or was not approved, they again stated they only sent out emails if it WAS approved. Passportsubmission.us poses as a government agency where you can go and renew your passport. In reality, they just fill out forms for you - charge you $180, and send you the forms. It has NOTHING to do with getting your passport renewed. They take your name, phone, email, SSN, everything.
