I had an Expedia issue and googled “Expedia customer service phone number.” The AI overview outputted (855) 483-3044. I called that number and there was an immediate answer. After describing my issue (the room I booked was not as described, I wanted to discuss my options of refund or changing room, etc), he was offering me new rooms and going over “options”. He said a room that sounded good to me and I gave him my credit card information. Then I changed my mind and said I don’t want to change rooms through him because I wanted to see if the front desk would help me at my hotel. He gave a little push back but then said he was still going give me a full refund because the booking was not as described. But he said in order to give me a refund, I have to pay $2500 first, because they have a minimum refund amount of $4990, and can only give me a refund if I pay them that amount. He put me on hold to “process the refund”, and I was on hold for 15 mins. I called the direct line back and got him back on the phone and Told him I couldn’t be on the phone anymore because I wanted to talk to the hotel instead. He said okay, that he would send me an invoice to my email for me to pay. I got the invoice of $2500 via PayPal but did not pay it. He called me back a few times and I did not answer. Later in the day I called the number back to make sure nothing was charged. Someone immediately answered the phone. I told them that a representative took my credit card but that I didn’t want anything charged or cancelled. He said ok, but he didn’t ask for my information which was weird.
