Received in the mail a letter regarding property home warranty at my address. Letter has Form 9550 WARR on top left corner as reference. Also used *********** as my owners ID number. Told me to call 888-678-5131 [BBB Scam Type: Online Purchase] [Business: Unknown] [Location: TX, USA- 77868]

My husband received an official looking piece of mail that appeared to come from our bank. The letter does not include any other business name or address, just a toll-free number. The letter implied it was urgent to call them before something expires and coverage lapses. This has nothing to do with our bank and is completely misleading. I'm reporting this so others are not scammed into buying something they don't need or losing money to a fake business. This scammer uses the phone number 888-678-5131. The top left of the letter says "Official Business - Penalty for Private Use $300 - Form 9550-WARR" and says "FINAL NOTICE: IMMEDIATE RESPONSE REQUIRED" at the top. They use urgent sounding words and all caps to try and get people to pay them for a home warranty. Who honestly knows if they actually sell home warranties. I was considering buying a home warranty but I would never buy from someone whose first contact with me is an aggressive lie. Received a letter in the mail with no mailing identifiers (return address, etc.) stating they have ven trying to contact me about my “mortgage”. I live with my mother who is the sole owner of the house, so I do not have any ownership regarding any sort of mortgage tied to this address. The latter states this is a 9550-WARR, Penalty for Private Use $300, with the only way to contact them being the phone number at 1-888-678-5131. US BK NA is what I would assume to be the company name. They are stating this is the last time they try to contact me or else they will close the file on the property. I have received approximately 4 letters like the one attached, each using more and more urgent language. Each letter was addressed to me at the address of the property I just purchased, with the name of the bank that sponsors my lender. There is no company name or logo, no address, no website, etc. for the sender of the letter. Only a phone number (1-888-678-5131) to call and an urgent request to verify information regarding my home warranty. My home warranty is through a local company who would have contacted me via phone or email if they needed me. Just a warning to anyone else who may search for this phone number - this appears to be a common scam!
