I am reporting an employment scam targeting EDD/CalJOBS users. (unemployment) On Dem 29, 2025. I received a text from (702) 319-4190 on 12/15/2025. A named Brenton Hall stated they are a company of Alpha Mechanical Services, Inc. Email: [email protected] It's website: alphamechanicalservicesinc.com Address: 2823 Palma Cir, Corona, CA 92881 The sender said they got my info from CalJOBS. Having just registered for CalJobs, seemed legit. I followed up, and was asked for an email address to send the job description. The job looked pretty sweet (Data Entry Specialist $30/hr, remote, benefits, flex-time) upon agreeing to the ddescription, I was sent and filled out a typical hiring application. Including mailing address, phone and email, as well as some historical data not atypical for a hiring application. I was then accepted and requested to do a weeks training at $22/hr 3 hours a day. The training was to research a Data Scrubbing and write a best practices report. Seemed a bit much for data entry but I thought that it was from CalJOBS, so I kept training. On the 7th day trainging, 12/29/2025, they use Zil-Money to send me a check with $1950 but told me that I need to pay first to buy some equipment and claim back once I deposit that check later. Brenton said that I can wire moeny is better, if not, I can pay via paypal, Apple pay, Venmo. I was afraid of being scammed, so I suggested using PayPal. And then Brenton provided me a personal Paypal information with personal Gmail, name. (Email: [email protected] Name: Marie Katherine) So I call Zil-Money who issued the check and the customer service suggeste [BBB Scam Type: Employment] [Business: Alpha Mechanical Services Inc.Impostor] [Location: CA, USA - 90063]

The Alpha Mechanical Employment Scam: A Narrative of Events My experience with what I now recognize as a sophisticated employment scam began in early January 2026, when I applied for a Remote Data Entry Specialist position with a company identifying itself as Alpha Mechanical Services, Inc. The opportunity initially appeared to be a legitimate career step, offering a structured training program and a competitive salary. However, over the course of seven days, this professional front was used to systematically gain my trust in order to steal my personal information and attempt financial fraud. The process was managed by an individual named "Brenton Hall," who communicated with me primarily through Microsoft Teams and text messages from the phone number 702-319-4190. To make the job feel real, Brenton put me through a rigorous seven-day training period. Each day, I was given specific administrative tasks, such as managing office supply inventory, creating data-cleansing cheat sheets, and practicing scheduling using military time. Brenton provided consistent feedback on my work, which built a false sense of security and professional rapport. During this period of established trust, the scam moved into the "onboarding" phase. I was asked to provide my full name, address, and Social Security Number, ostensibly for payroll and tax purposes. Believing I was working for a real corporation, I provided these details. Once the scammers had my sensitive information, they moved to the final stage: the financial trap. On January 13, 2026, I was told that the company would provide a check for me to purchase high-end office equipment from "accredited vendors." The check arrived via FedEx, and following Brenton's urgent instructions, I deposited it into my personal bank account. Immediately after the deposit, I was pressured to use my "available funds" to pay th [BBB Scam Type: Employment] [Business: Alpha Medical Services Inc Impostor] [
