I responded to a facebook post looking for a sublease in a college off-campus housing group. The post was made by someone claiming to be Nasia Craig's sister posting on behalf of her. I got in contact with Nasia Craig over e-mail, who claimed she was starting a new job at Asure Software. She claimed she could not pay the full application fee for the apartment complex, and had to borrow half from a friend. She sent me a screenshot of the completed application fee (I later learned that this was fake as the complex never received payment). Afterwards, I sent her half of the fee ($110 ) over PayPal as we had agreed upon. She told me that I would be reimbursed when her company, Asure Software, sent her money to cover her move-in expenses. The company made out an e-check to me for $862.34 and instructed me to deduct my portion and send the rest to her. She emailed me a couple of times each day to ask if the check had cleared and asking me to send the money. When I informed them that the check had been put on hold and I would not send any money until it had fully cleared, they stopped contacting me. Additionally, the check itself had the logo for a different company, MEMIC, which is a worker's comp company. When I contacted MEMIC, they could not find the check number and the policy number on the check came up as registered to a company called Archie's Inc.
