I received a call from an Utah number 801-948-3982 stating her name was Maria and she was calling from a processing unit asking if I had received a summons to appear in court from Jennings and Moore law firm. I informed her I had no idea as to what she was referring to. She gave me the number to call and “case number”. I called the number which was 888-798-6050 gave them the case number which is GM16074 and they verified identity with the last four of my social. The guy stated that this was because of a cash advance loan taken in 2018 that was written off in 2021. He informed me that the total was something in the neighborhood of $1600 to settle out of court. I told them I needed time to figure things out. They said that they could hold the account in their office for 48 hours and after that the summons would be sent out. I received a call today 11-13-25 from Maria at 801-948-3982 stating that the law firm had placed a hold on my account until 5pm EST if I intended to settle out of court. If I did not set something up by 5pm EST then I would receive a summons within 48 hours. [BBB Scam Type: Phishing] [Business: Jennings and Moore] [Location: UT, USA - 84652]
