I called the number on the statement (844-725-3799) and the representative refused to identify the actual company name. They stated they were “a third party” and claimed they were not legally obligated to tell me the company’s name. They then told me the supposed account was under my son’s name, even though the charge was on my credit card, and would not cancel unless he was on the call. This appears to be a stall tactic and is not legitimate business behavior. Later, I received a callback from a different number (833-368-1696) from someone claiming to be from the same company. This person said they would offer a full refund only if I did not file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. This is highly concerning and appears to be an attempt to prevent consumers from reporting deceptive or unauthorized billing practices. Conditioning a refund on my agreement not to file a complaint feels coercive, retaliatory, and similar to extortion.
