I received an email about a job I had applied to (HR Assistant) via LinkedIn. At first it seemed like a legit email, they reviewed my resume, gave a synopsis of the job duties, and a summary of the company. Then ended with: "Due to the large number of applicants, the first phase of the interview/screening process is done via an "Interview Questionnaire Form." I thought it was kind of odd, but okay. The email was from "Veronica Pavlenko, Talent Acquisition Specialist." I completed the questionnaire (on my own Word doc) and sent back as a PDF. The next day "Veronica" emailed back: "We would like to set up a phone interview with you. The duration of the session is roughly four minutes. Mr. John Conturso, the HR Administrator, will contact you at (972) 638-0103. Please indicate that you are available within an hour, for example, between 9 and 10 a.m. December 6th, 2025, at the latest." Now I'm starting to wonder a bit - a four minute call? And the wording of the sentence was a tiny bit "off" grammatically. I confirmed when I could take the call, and got a confirmation that "John Conturso" would call me. Shortly after I got another email that they hadn't heard from me. I referred them back to their email telling me what time "John" would call. But now I was beginning to wonder. I went to the website. VERY legit looking, well done for scammers. On LinkedIn though, their page seemed a bit sparse. I then searched for John and about about half of the "leadership team" on the website on LinkedIn, and not ONE of them had a profile. I did see "Veronica" and she had an HR title and lived in Belarus? Then I Googled more and warnings about this company, so I immediately emailed them I was no longer interested. They never responded. Luckily the only info they got is my LinkedIn profile, I&#x2 [BBB Scam Type: Employment] [Business: First HR Connect] [Location: IL, USA - 60030]

I applied to an HR Assistant position for First HR Connect via LinkedIn. The recruiter (Veronica Pavlenko) emailed me a questionnaire, I even received a call from a John Conturso ("HR"), a TX phone number (972-638-0103). After hanging up with John, I did a bit of research. My initial hunch was that there was a misspell on the company's website. The recruiter and John Conturso were nowhere to be found on the company's website, and there was no business contact information for them (on emails). Furthermore, emails/communications came from [email protected] (and not .com). This might be used to hide a true identity. Be very careful as scammers are becoming more sophisticated. @media (min-width:768px){.css-1w6dufj{-webkit-box-flex:0;-webkit-flex-grow:0;-ms-flex-positive:0;flex-grow:0;-webkit-flex-basis:auto;-ms-flex-preferred-size:auto;flex-basis:auto; [BBB Scam Type: Employment] [Business: First HR Connect] [Location: FL, USA - 33315]
