“Unifin” Scam I’ve been ignoring these texts for a while but today they actually called me trying to get personal information. I found this post which is absolutely the same scam. The texts were kind of obvious - but the phone calls were unexpected. I picked up without saying anything - was hung up on even though I could hear someone on the line. Called back, said “Hi I missed a call from this number, what is this?” They asked me if I knew someone (they mentioned a name). I replied, “why?” and they said it’s regarding a personal matter. I asked who is calling me, and stated that I wouldn’t give information without knowing who’s asking. They said it’s a personal matter. I called back several times. Always the same thing - they will not talk to me because “it’s regarding a personal matter”. I had a different person answer the phone, they gave me the same runaround - but told me the company name and spelled it out. I asked what the company does. “it’s a personal matter.” I straight up said, so even though I’m talking to you right now, you won’t tell me anything about the company that is calling me? They told me I can look it up if I’d like - but “it’s a personal matter”. It’s very obvious that they just want information. They want me to say - “yes! I know this person by x relation.” I found more information about them being a scam/identity theft operation on multiple websites. This is the phone number: 570-393-2756. Call em if you want, sign them up for spam calls, report them and let me know where I can report them. TLDR: “Unifen” is both texting and calling people trying to get information to commit identity theft. Do not ever give anyone information especially if they don’t clearly identify themselves as any reputable institution or business would.
