After logging into the Capital One website to pay on some accounts, I was informed that there was a Credit Card charge off! I contacted the following number (1-800-258-9319) that was given by the website to access more detailed information. I was asked to verify my Social Security Number in order to verify my request of which I refused. I was then asked to verify the Account Number on my 'Debit Card' in order to verify my request, again of which I refused. I was finally able to gain the Date on which the charge-off was originally recorded which was stated to have been on October 11, 2007. I was also able to gain the amount of the charge-off of which was stated to have been a total of $838.17. Due to the fact that communication was seriously hindered by the level of background noise on the other end of the call and the so-called 'Representative' speaking with a thick foreign accent I came to the conclusion that this could possibly be a 'scam operation' and ended the call.
