I was forwarded a text from someone who probably didn't realize it could be a scam. The message reads as follows: "Hello, this is Amelia from the Amazon Recruiting team We have a position that's a great fit for you -- helping companies like Amazon increase app visibility and user growth. Flexible working hours: Approximately 1 hour per day. Flexible time and location Daily salary: $200-$600 Free training, 15-20 days paid annual leave, plus all statutory holidays We currently have 50 open positions. If you are interested in joining us, please text +12139971716 for more details Note: You must be at least 25 years old and have a strong sense of responsibility" I have not responded to the text. I intend to notify the person who forwarded the text that it is probably a scam. I looked up the number on the CallerSmart.com reverse phone number lookup site. This gave a trust factor of 50%, and said, "Located in Los Angeles: DA 01, California, our premium database shows that it was associated with *d*a K***** on 01-21-2026 at 02:14:26 AM". The map displayed was Ciudad de Mexico (Mexico City) rather than Los Angeles, but I don't know if that detail is significant or a glitch of some kind on the part of the CallerSmart site. At that point I started a web search for the phone number and several hits came up here on the BBB Scam Tracker so I thought it best to report the information.
